Welcome to my blog

Migle & UpeHi, German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) lovers. I am Migle Narbutaite – GSP lover and breeder. I’m also a photographer and photography lecturer.

My experience in “dog life” spans over 15 years. I began as a Junior Handler, handling dogs all over Europe. Eventually I ended up training and breeding what I consider the most incredible breed on earth – German Shorthaired Pointers.

In my own breeding practice, I have high standards and breed on a very limited basis, with each litter carefully planned well in advance. All the combinations I plan involve dogs with many years of selective breeding on their pedigrees, only the best show results, and excellent health and endurance that have been proven in the field.

I believe that strict compliance with these requirements produces healthy, brave and intelligent dogs with a correct build and great hunting instincts.

Every step of the way, I get tremendous support from my wonderful partner and boyfriend.
If not for him, this blog wouldn’t be possible, so Bogdan, big thanks to you!

Short story about our dogs

First female, INTER CH Amazoni, was imported from Finland in 2003. She became the very first GSP INTER Champion in the Baltic region and founded a new GSP bloodline in Eastern Europe. The mating was in Finland with the wonderful working dog CH Don Korleone’s Conrad. This litter produced my beloved and faithful friend, MULTI CH Amazonjoki (Upe). That’s how the kennel is called – UPE (meaning “River”).

It took a long time to choose a kennel for a new male pup. Hubi (Charleswood Komet) was brought from well-known and respected GSP kennel Charleswood in 2008. Upe (Amazonjoki) and Hubi (Charleswood Komet) produced our second litter, Litter B. This combination involves line-breeding on Gleizz Fatale Barzini, bringing in Scandinavian working and show champion lines with very strong and super fast dogs.

We are expecting our third Litter “C” in mid-October of 2012. This litter combines the oldest GSP lines (Hege Haus) with the Scandinavian working lines of Upe (Amazonjoki) and Ergo Vom Osterberg. More information about this litter is coming soon.

Why I decided to start a blog

During all the years I’ve been personally involved in “dog life,” I’ve gotten to know some very brilliant people, including breeders and judges, who have helped me to grow and become a scrupulous breeder. Over time I began to get many messages via e-mail and Facebook, asking me various questions and even giving me warm compliments.

Most of the questions are relevant to a wider audience, so I decided to start this blog to offer professional information about training, hunting, health problems, travel, games, food, swimming, communication and much more.

What should you expect in this blog

I will regularly post articles on various topics that are relevant for GSP lovers. I’ll share professional information about GSP health, hunting features, training, anatomy, coloration, interesting upcoming dog shows in Europe, information about the biggest shows worldwide, and much more.

Some of the articles I’ll write myself. Health articles will be written by respected veterinarians, and hunting subjects will be taken on by experienced hunters, trainers and breeders.

  1. Hi, VanVechten,
choose a puppy from working parents. Find the breeder you could trust and tell you need a pup for hunting. Only trustful breeder who is 24/7 with puppies will choose you the right puppy.
I do testing with wings and fur from 5th week with my puppies.
At the age of 7 weeks I can tell you which puppy will be very good working dog
